10% Tariffs On Additional $200 Billion In Chinese Imports To U.S. Take Effect September 24 2018; 70% Of U.S. Exports To China Subject To New Tariffs In Response
On September 24, 2018, 10% tariffs will be levied on an additional $200 billion in Chinese products being imported to the United States. The Trump Administration announced 25% tariffs to be levied on $50 billion worth of Chinese products (around 1,300 different products) in April of 2018.
“The combined $250 billion in products facing levies is almost half the value of imports from China last year. Meanwhile, $110 billion of goods from the U.S. will become subject to Chinese tariffs around the same time, or about 70 percent of the value of goods it bought from America in 2017.”
Discussions between the Chinese and U.S. governments have stalled with no plans to reconvene and continue negotiations.
