Immigrant Ban Excludes Neighboring Countries Where Trump Has Business Interests

In Conflicts Of Interest, Immigration, International Relations, Muslims   Last Updated: June 22, 2017

As one of his first acts as President, Trump issued an executive order temporarily banning immigration from 7 Middle Eastern countries and halting refugee admissions.

Trump has either done business or is seeking to do business in 4 countries directly adjacent to the 7 on the list: Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Azerbaijan.

However, there are many other countries with higher percentages and total populations of Muslims and the list of 7 countries was claimed to be derived from a list created by the Obama administration (although the method of travel restriction is different).
