Trump Seeks To End “Birthright Citizenship” Through Executive Order

President Trump announced on Tuesday that he “would seek to end the right to U.S. citizenship for children born in the United States to noncitizens.”

The 14th Amendment to the Constitution states “all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”

Trumps claim to proceed through executive order has started a debate as to whether or not the President has the power to amend the Constitution in this manner.
