President Trump Announces Ban Of Transgender People From Military On Twitter
On July 26 2017 Trump announced through Twitter a ban of transgender individuals from military service, citing “tremendous medical costs” and disruptions:

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (heads of all branches of the military and protective services) responded in a message to military leaders, writing “there will be no modifications to the current policy until the President’s direction has been received by the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary has issued implementation guidance.”
On August 25 President Trump issued a memorandum banning transgender individuals from entering the military starting January 1, 2018.
